The Gear Swap Is Back — Time to Clear Out, Cash In, and Gear Up!

Our beloved Gear Swap is back! This is your chance to pass along gently used gear, give it a second life, and earn store credit.

It's EASY....Here’s how it works:

• Between APR 8th - 17th bring your lightly used gear to Walkabout Outfitter.
• Set your own price to sell your gear for.
• Then, between APR 22nd - 26th, we’ll sell your old gear to fellow outdoor lovers. 
• For sold items, you'll receive 100% of the sales in the form of a Walkabout gift certificate
• Upgrade to brand-new gear!  
• ♻️ It's recycling and upcycling in its most adventurous form.
• BONUS! For items not sold, you can choose to pick them up or let us donate them for you to Girls Who Hike Virginia!

Girls Who Hike Virginia is a nonprofit that empowers more than 31,000 women+ across the state through inclusive, guided hikes, outdoor education, and an inspiring sense of community.

Gear Swap Seller Guidelines

To keep the event successful and safe for everyone, please ensure your items meet the following standards:

✅ Acceptable Gear

• Clean, recently laundered clothing and soft goods (no odors)

• Clean footwear in good, wearable condition

• Working electronics (headlamps, GPS, etc.)

• Usable, clean gear like backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and more

🚫 Unacceptable Gear

• Used undergarments (including underwear, bras, socks)

• Broken, damaged, or unsafe gear

• Safety gear such as helmets, climbing gear, etc.
